"Ji Mui" Sea Park @ Bandar Puteri

The famous legendary Sea Park curry laksa has finally open their branch in Bandar Puteri.
We had ordered beef noodles, curry laksa and clear soup noodles. To be honest, nothing much to shout about. All are at normal standard except curry laksa is above average =).
Oh yeh.. the beverages is good. Not like those made of "sugar water" drinks !!! Hehehe.....
Pricing is reasonable as you can see from the banner itself. ~~ Have a try ~~

mY VegetarI'an! @ Bandar Puteri

Mini steamboat set with the price at RM19.90. Kinda comfortable environment where WiFi services is provided at the cafe. Bundles of mags for your reading, astro under wide LCD screen and many more. Worth for a visit!

Well Cook Gourmet @ SS14

Fried Mee Suah and Fried Asam Laksa.
Reasonable price start from rm5 per serving.

The Laksa taste superb. It has almost the same ingredients as normal Asam Laksa (eg: bunga kantan, sliced onions, cucumber, taugeh...& it's being fried) Since the taste is strong, you are advice to have the fried mee suah before laksa else mee suah will become tasteless ~

They do have claypot pan mee and curry laksa. Looks good. Well, will try it out someday =)

Surprisingly, it came out in the newspaper > TheStar on Dec 21, just about a week after this article was posted!!! Blogger epicuriousgirl said "warrants a re-visit". So what do you think? Tempted????

Rakuzen @ Hartamas

The birthday dinner venue is Rakuzen!! Not for my birthday though :p
This Japanese restaurant is located at Hartamas Shopping Centre. I have been here once and I simply love the food!

For starters we have Hako Kani Salad. Loads of fresh garden salad, chunks of tomatoes, slices of fresh crab meat (which were served cold), top with lotsa tiny fish roe ; served in a special sauce. The green leafy was really fresh as well as the crab meat. I could not really tell what made up the sauce but it really blends well with the whole bowl of salad. Though RM28 is a lil bit pricey for a bowl of veges but itz worth the money as everything taste fresh and the portion is big!

Hako Kani Salad (Big) - RM28

Then, comes the Sashimi Unagi Zen. This is a bento set which consist of a big slice of unagi (grilled eel in sweet sauce), sashimi (slices of tuna and salmon), miso soup, fruits, chawanmushi and a bowl of rice.
The unagi taste yummy and the sashimi was fresh! Superb!

Sashimi Unagi Zen - RM48
My friend ordered Soft Shell Crab Temaki. Big chunk of soft shell crab with rice and lettuce rolled with a piece of seaweed. *drooling*

Soft Shell Crab Temaki - RM8
Next is Saba Shioyaki. Two pieces of Saba fish grilled to perfection with salt sprinkled on top of the fish skin. Taste is marvellous!

Saba Shioyaki - RM16

After that comes Rokkaku Bento. Prawn and vege tempura, slices of sashimi, unagi, slices of fresh octopus, steamed radish served in a big laquered box. This set comes with a bowl of rice, mixed salad, miso soup and chawanmushi. I did not try the radish coz itz my least preferred food. I tried the octopus slice and it was surprisingly good. It was chewy and taste good with some sesame sprinkled on top.

Rokkaku Bento - RM60
A close shot of salmon maki and fish roe sushi. Notice the big fish roe biji-biji? *Woooott* Super!!(though itz salty, really)

Here comes soft shell crab. Crispy soft shell crab *Yum *Yum*

Soft Shell Crab - RM22

Next is Rakuzen Bento. This is the largest portion of bento in the menu. Enough for 2 person! This set comes with octopus slices, steamed radish and a piece of perfectly grilled cod fish. The cod fish was really good!

This bento set also served with few slices of sushi (salmon, fish row, scallop, mackerel and tuna sushi)

Chawanmushi - RM10
Not only that, this bento set comes with the following! Prawn and vege tempura, skewered chicken slices and "see ham", chawanmushi, salad, fruits, rice, salmon and squid sashimi, fish roe and miso soup! Huge portion rite?!

Rakuzen Bento - RM75

I was too full to eat anymore but I still managed to stuff myself with the skewered chicken slices :p The grilled chicken is nothing to shout about though.

Da' birthday babies

Then itz time to wish the birthday boys and girl. I thought the restaurant waiters would come up something creative besides than singing the birthday song but it was quite a disappointment as we sing much louder than them. Huhu.. However ,customers from other tables were clapping for us. Hehe..
We bought a kiddy "cake" for the birthday boys and girl. Hahaha..
Let's see a close-up of the "cake"

Cute heh? Itz actually made of jelly!

Overall, the dinner was good. The food might be a lil bit pricey but it is really worth the money. We all left with a happy heart :)

Sakae Sushi

"I need to eat something less oily and non-spicy" : "Alrite, then let's have japanese food" ; "Sakae Sushi lar" exclaimed the other.
Sakae Sushi originates from Singapore. This restaurant serves variety of sushi, ramen, bento, teppanyaki and the list goes on. Sakae Sushi is much of a newcomer than Sushi King but many customers are flocking to this restaurant these days. Thanks to err.. their "tech savvy" way of ordering food? Customers would place order with a click of a mouse. The orders would then display on the LCD monitor. Once you confirmed those orders, food shall be served shortly by the waiters.

Salmon Temaki - RM3.90
Salmon pieces with lotsa wasabi, lettuce, radish and rice wrapped in seaweed that forms into a cone shape sushi.

Teriyaki Chicken Ramen - RM12.90

Ramen in broth soup served with hard boiled egg, bamboo shoot, green vege and teriyaki chicken pieces. The soup was ok but the chicken slices served were very little.

Chawan mushi RM3.90
Custard consists of an egg mixture flavoured with soy sauce and shiitake mushrooms, and boiled shrimp placed into a tea-cup-like container. This dish is similar to that of Chinese steamed eggs but the toppings might differ.

Special Makimono : Unagi Maki - RM12.90
Hand-rolled sushi stuffed with seaweed, tamago (sweet egg) and cucumber topped with slices of unagi; drizzle in sweet sauce.

Soft shell crab crepe - RM5.90

Deep fried soft shell crab pieces with slices of cucumber rolled in an egg crepe. This dish a lil' bit salty but plus points for its creativity.

Salmon Mayo Inari - RM3.90
Loads of salmon bits mixed with mayonnaise stuffed in inari (sweet beancurd skin). Surprisingly there is no rice in this dish, just pure salmon mayo.

Tempura Ramen - RM13.90

Ramen in broth soup served with prawn tempura (pieces of prawn are dipped in flour, then the batter and deep fried in oil). The prawn tempura pieces are much smaller than the ones you could find at Sushi King or Kiku Zakura.

Divino, Jaya One

After numerous strolling around Jaya One for a place to drink, we finally decided to set ourselves at Divino. The ambience was comfy and itz a good place to chat/catch up with your friends. We settled ourselves at the bar counter.
Divino is currently having a wine promotion so we had wine the whole nite. Got to know that this bar is a subsidiary of Denise Wine Shop.

Berri States Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

This wine taste smooth and 'oaky'. I like this wine the most. Forgotten the exact price but this bottle is on the promo list.

Pouring wine skillfully :p

We observed that there are limited edition Heineken beers. "Waiter, can I get one of these?" hahaha..

Errazuriz Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
This is the second bottle of wine that we tried. This one taste a lil' sour than the first one. Not to my liking. This bottle is on the promo list as well.

Arrays of wines and liquors on the bar counter. Do notice the promo on the whiteboard. RM40 for a bottle of wine. That is cheap wei and the taste isn't that bad but I could not comment much if you guys out there have a sensitive/good tastebud for wine. I am not a wine tester you know :p

Aftermath the 3 bottles of wine - sudah "mabok" hahahaha..

This place is recommended for its good service and ambience. The waiter changes your wine glass after every bottle and they are able to recommend and explain each bottle depending on your liking. There is even a wine shop if you can't find anything you like from the bar.
Note : Picture courtesy of Fen. Not able to post the third bottle here.

Brussels Beer Cafe

Located at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.
This cafe serves mostly local and imported beers.

I ordered 1 pint of Hoegaarden beer (RM28). Saw there is 'dai dai bui' from other customer's table; when asked the waiter for the price - it was RM138 for 5pints. That is really a lot!! Could be consume by 10 people I guess.

Not a bad place to hang out when you want to chat and try imported beers at the same time. Oh, they serve cocktails as well such as Mojitos but it doesnt taste nice.

Canton-i

We were supposed to eat at Soho,KL but got to know that kedai tutup!! Indecisive, we headed to Canton-i
As we walked into the restaurant, the interior is somewhat like Dragon-i.

One of my faves : egg tarts!!

The egg tarts (RM3+) were yummy. Flaky pastry with smooth egg custard.

Char Kuey Teow with beef slices in sizzling hot plate

This dish is kinda oily but overall it was okay. The beef slices doesnt taste fresh though.

Seafood fried rice

Braised pork knuckles with wantan mee

Roast duck with wantan mee

it looks too cute to be eaten,eh?

The piggy bun is actually red bean bun. Cant remember the price but itz the normal 'hong dao pau' that you can get from the pasar. Just that the chef makes it to a shape of a piggy.

Overall, Dragon-i taste better than Canton-i. I wont be visiting Canton-i for the second time.

Long Bar, One World Hotel

"Hmmm.. where should we go for second round?" Long Bar! , exclaimed Fen. "A good place to 'keng sum see'" hahaha.. so she said..
We stroll along the path from 1 Utama that leads to Long Bar. The bar is located at the ground floor - parking lot of One World Hotel.
As we stepped into the bar, the place was deserted except for a few waiters and waitresses whom greeted us as we strolled along rows of high bar chairs and tables. We walked till the end section of the bar and stumbled upon a more private area with sofas around. The place is totally empty except for the 3 of us!! Looks as though we reserve the whole bar keke..
We seated ourselves comfortably at a big red cushion sofa. The lights in this bar change constantly
every 10 seconds from green - blue - red - white ; so you gotta adjust yourself with the colors.

Notice the cute flourescent drink 'stick mixer'?

Drinks ordered :

  • Planters punch (RM24) - taste like cough syrup (not recommended)
  • Iced hazelnut milk (RM16) - Kinda sweet for my liking
  • Strawberry milkshake (RM16) - acceptable :p

Titbits are served FOC :)
The drinks here are slightly expensive but worth for the ambience here. It is comfy and pop music was played by a DJ da whole night. Volume level is not blasting till you cant talk. Anyway, we were playing cards most of the time. haha..

princess egg tart in 'pretentious' mode

Pasta Zanmai

After a tiring window shopping trip at 1 Utama, me and my girlfren decided to eat at Pasta Zanmai for dinner.
The queue was not long so we were seated once there.

Soft Shell Crab spaghetti in sesame sauce

The sesame sauce taste good with the combination of spaghetti and soft sheel crab. The crabs were a bit oily though. This dish cost RM25 that comes together with a set - miso soup and salad

Seafood spaghetti in tomato paste

The bolognaise sause is a bit tasteless but itz surely loaded with squids and prawns. Set is RM28 that comes together with miso soup and salad.

Let's start with San Francisco at KLCC

Had this grilled salmon set at RM16.90. Set comes with soup of the day, main course and also bottomless softdrinks.
The portion is much much smaller than it was few weeks back. But it was quite good thou.
They serve different main course by day.

Rating by cc: 6.5/10

Same goes to fish & chips set at RM16.90.
As you noticed, it used to have 2 piece of fish fillet but now they only serv
e 1 piece and they charge you same price!!!!
Actually 1 piece is just nice for my tummy =P
Fresh and juicy.

Puchong nearby HSBC/UOB

Ah Hong fish head curry. RM12 for 'small'. E
nough for 2-3 pax. The ingredients used are mostly high quality especially the fish. Deep fried fish that has less bones taste so good. Ginger used are "man tong" ginger. Curry had enough of santan.
Although all ingredients are great but it doesn't give me the 'ummph' feeling yet. It could be better.

After Ipoh local food, we moved on to Korea food.
Experiment done at "Han Woo Ri" Jln Ampang.
From left to right, Korea local appetizer/side dishes. Sorry, can't remember what they called it.
All can't be finish except tofu, spinach and the fried anchovies. Others taste weird included kimchi. They will keep topping-up if you finished eating any of it.
Next is the steamboat, it was cooked using onions, tofu, vege, mushrooms, etc and also pig intestines - yucks !!!! ... soup base is so 'rich' and taste good.
Next is the most famous Korean BBQ. We had pork rib and also beef. Grilled together with onions and garlic is a must.
Chum Churum taste strong. It contains 20% alcohol. Restaurant owner recommend us to drink it with lime. Not bad.
Last but not least, the PANCAKE !!!! It taste similar to our "mien fern kuey" with prawns and vege stuffing. Yummy Yummy.

Somehow, I realize that I don't really fancy Korea Food.
The total bill comes up to rm295.90. Expensive kah?

Anyone tried this before? SweetChat cafe at Berjaya Times Square.
I was so pist-off with the service. I been waited to be served for more than 15 minutes and press the "call bell" for more than 4 times, yet noone is taking my order. Well, I didn't even get to view the menu actually.

The problem is the cafe was not crowded at that time!! Or am I the unlucky one for that day?? Whatever...

Anyone tried? How was it? I can smell the durian dessert. Looks good.

Highly recommended pork noodles from SS15, Restaurant Pomander.
So far this is the best pork noodles I had.
Fresh raw egg was added on top.
Meat is perfectly marinated.
Soup taste sweet and good. Zoom in, you'll be able to see the thickness of the soup base.. imagine all the food essence was melted - all in a bowl... Slrrrpppp....
